Danny’s Value Play: Three Cars and a Truck to Target

We’ve had a very busy spring and I apologize for not providing you a “Value Play of the Month” for April. I was torn between several cars in the market that I think are great values right now and I wanted to write about more than one.

So, to make up for April I’ve provided you with a Value Play for May and a little bonus. I decided to write about three cars this month… Actually, two cars and a truck!

2006-2008 Lamborghini Gallardo

The 2006-2008 Gallardo Coupes and Spyders were amazing! They featured a quick shifting E Gear Transmission as an option on many of the cars and came with features like heated seats, dual zone climate, a rear view camera, front axle lifting system etc. that simply were not available on its biggest rival, the Ferrari F430.

These options made the Gallardo seem far more modern compared to the F430 at the time and today still allow the car to be relevant.

You can pick one of these mid-year Gallardos up for $75,000-100,000 and I would advise spending on the higher side of the range to get the lowest mileage example you can.

2009-2012 Corvette ZR1

So, I will be the first to admit that “in general” I do not like Corvettes. Over the years the Corvette has turned into a Cash Cow for Chevrolet and thus, a car for the masses has evolved.

However, in 2009 Chevrolet produced the one Corvette that I would actually own. I was really impressed with it at the time and still am.

The ZR1 features a supercharged LS9 V8 that produces 638 HP! It will do 0-60 MPH in the low three second range and it will actually crack the 200 MPH top speed mark. One of my personal favorite parts of the ZR1 is the standard Ceramic Brake System. I believe it’s the first American car to offer these brakes as standard equipment on a production car.

You can find a great ZR1 for $55,000-$85,000 and I think this car will hold value if not appreciate long term.

2010-2014 Ford Raptor

OK, this one is clearly not a car but it represents great value in the market. I recently purchased a 2017 Ford Raptor, and while I love the look of the new Raptor and the interior, I was supremely disappointed with how it drove and immediately sold it.

But it got me thinking… How cool was the old Raptor?

Especially the SuperCab version with the 6.2L motor! I just love the look of that truck and the 6.2L V8 engine is capable of a lot of power. It just seems fitting to have a big V8 in a pickup right?

I started snooping around and found a couple 2010-2012 SuperCab Raptors with the 6.2, fully loaded with all the toys for $25,000-35,000. At that price point you could throw an exhaust on it and possibly a super charger making a very fun weekend toy.
